Welcome to Caboose Cafe, a true gem nestled at 4020 E Old US Highway 30, Hamlet, IN 46532, where American cuisine meets heartfelt service. As a food reviewer for Menustic, I find it refreshing to uncover a culinary haven that prides itself on delivering quality dishes at reasonable prices. With items starting from just US$4.99 for a classic Hot Dog to US$14.95 for a mouthwatering Philly Steak, Caboose Cafe offers something scrumptious for everyone.
Upon stepping into Caboose Cafe, guests are welcomed into a charming atmosphere that feels both casual and inviting. The rave reviews from patrons highlight not only the incredible food but also the wonderful staff who go above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience. One delighted customer, Sharon Evers, describes their visit as nothing short of exceptional, praising both the burgers and the friendly service. It’s clear that the café’s inviting ambiance is complemented by a team that genuinely cares about the happiness of its guests.
The menu reflects a classic American diner style, yet it doesn’t skimp on variety. Whether you’re in the mood for crispy Chicken Tenders, a hearty Cheeseburger, or one of their unique offerings like the Chicken Bacon Ranch, there’s no doubt you’ll leave satisfied. Dishes like the Malibu Chicken sandwich have garnered specific praise for their generous portion sizes, showcasing the cafe's dedication to quality.
Breakfast enthusiasts will also find a delightful selection, with menu items like expertly cooked eggs served with perfectly crisp American potatoes and a choice of breads that cater to various tastes. You might even enjoy a side of thick, flavorful salsa to complement your meal. As Sherrie Kenz noted, the attention to details in cooking, such as achieving that ideal yolk consistency and serving coffee that strikes the right balance, is what sets Caboose Cafe apart.
It’s hard not to feel a sense of community when you see the owner taking time to check on guests, reinforcing the notion that this is more than just a place to eat; it’s a dining experience steeped in warmth and connection. Many visitors, like Megan Conley, claim it’s hard to find a better breakfast and burger spot anywhere in Indiana. It’s places like Caboose Cafe that make you realize the value of local establishments where passion meets plate.
So, if you’re looking for a cozy spot to indulge in hearty American fare, look no further than Caboose Cafe. With a friendly vibe, a diverse menu, and dishes that promise satisfaction, you’ll find yourself coming back again and again. Don’t forget to bring cash, as they’ve chosen not to pass along card fees—an added bonus for patrons that appreciate supporting their local businesses!

Wow!! What a gem of a place. Talk about amazing food! Our family had burgers for the kids, BLT and the Malibu Chicken sandwich (see picture - it was huge) and everyone was very happy! The staff was wonderful and engaging and went above and beyond to make sure everything was great. We don't live in the area but will be stopping again when we come through again.

If you try to tell me that there's a better burger or breakfast place out there... YOU'RE WRONG! The Caboose has the best burgers and breakfast in Indiana, hands down! You could try every item on the menu and never be disappointed! The staff are terrific and super friendly. The owner is a great guy, he leaves the grill every now and then to come check in on the customers as well. If you're looking for great food and friendly service, The Caboose is the way to go!

GREAT place to eat breakfast or lunch! Our eggs were perfect. Mr had white rye toast! Food was not great. Coffee was perfect. Pay with cash as a courtesy - they don't pass along card fees.

Nice little bar and grill! Good variety on their menu! Our waitress is a co-owner (I think) with her husband, who cooked our breakfast. My husband was thrilled to have white rye toast! I was well- pleased with my more common whole wheat toast. We both ordered our eggs "over easy" and they were PERFECT. Whites were cooked all the way and the yolks were warmed through. We both ordered their "American potatoes", which are fried potatoes. Crispy and not at all greasy. I got corned beef hash (also nicely crisped), while Joe ordered link sausage (patties were also available). Our waitress asked if we'd like ketchup. I asked if they had salsa. Why, yes, they do! She brought both! Although their salsa is not chunky, it is nicely thick and has great flavor. Coffee? You betcha. Strong enough without being bitter. Sugar shaker on the table, half-and-half on offer. LOTS of food, priced reasonably. They don't pass along card fees, so please pay with cash to help their bottom line. We arrived shortly after they opened. They were moderately busy. The waitress had everything well under control. We're both early risers, so the meal was brunch for us.
